| michelle7898's Full Review: Build-A-Bear Stuffed Bear |
The Build a Bear Workshop store is one of the cutest stores to take your kids. I don't find it to be geared toward any gender. Of course you will see more girls then boys there. But they carry some thing for every one which I like. The best part about it is that your child gets involved in the experience of building the bear or doll that they have chosen.
Here is how it works and what this store offers:
There are hundreds of bears, bunnies, mice, elephants, cats and many more animal stuffed animals to pick from. They also have stuffed dolls and characters if your child chooses. First your child picks their "let's say" bear, then the bear skin is brought out empty. Your child gets to turn the crank to put the stuffing in to the bear. They have the child do a special dance to create the bear. Then your child can customize the out fit. Maybe they like firemen and want the red hat and coat, or princesses and want the gown. No matter the out fit this store is sure to have what your child wants, from career out fits, to fairytale out fits, and jeans, shirts, polos, dresses and many more. Your child can even choose shoes and sock or leggings. It all goes by what your child wants.
Before the bear gets completed you have the option to buy premade voice tabs, personally recorder voice tabs and noises. Things to that effect. This costs more money but can truly make the bear more special for your child. In our case it made all the difference in the world.
You can buy accessories of all kinds. Even little bear or doll furniture and other items. All of this comes at a worth while price. the prices are not too bad. A bear could run you to $50.00 for a jumbo sized bear with all the accessories and voice tabs. But you can beat having your child actually make their toy. So I find that this is very well worth the money.
The store I go to is located here in Rhode Island where I live. Warwick Rhode Island in side of the Warwick mall. I never go there for anything else. But the Build a Bear Workshop is located there so that is why we have gone in a few times. I researched on line and found out that it was there.
Personal experience:
The Build a Bear Workshop store is set up for children. The store not only looks fun, it is fun. I have to admit I have a good time watching my daughter go through the whole building process. In my daughter's first time going to the Build a Bear Workshop, we had a reason to go. She was having night mares. I wanted her to have some thing to sleep with that would make her feel safe.
My daughter had picked out a jumbo light tan bear with fuzzy hair. She filled it with the stuffing and did the dance they make you do. She giggled the whole time. Then she picked the clothing. In this case she chose footed pajamas that were pink, lace and had ducks on them. And for a day out fit she picked a pair of jeans with a belt, a pink and yellow stripe sweater, a light pink pair of socks and a pair of sneakers. For accessories my daughter chose hair bows for around the ears, a head band, some earrings and other items.
We used voice tabs. They let you record the sounds and or pick sounds or music you want. In my daughter's case we allowed her to pick two. She picked one for the belly which was a little bear type grumble noise, and one for the hand which was a melody of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I then pre recorded sounds for the other hand and one for each foot. The hand said "Mommy is close by, it's alright" The foot said "Close your eyes, there is nothing to be afraid of". And the last one said " Emmily, I am here to keep you safe"
This was at a time where my daughter had just turned 5. The coice recordings helped her when she awoke from a night mare. They were recorded in my voice. I could hear her pressing it through out the night at various times. This made her feel safe. Today she is nearly seven years old. She still sleeps with her original bear. We have bought several more but none that meant as much as this one did. They even give you a special carry box, and adoption certificate for each animal or doll that your child makes. The boxes have designs on them but are solid white so that your child can use crayons or markers to color it in.
Everything about the Build a Bear Workshop is top quality. They are a great, fun place to shop at and play at. You can even use the code you are given with your purchase to adopt a bear or doll on line on their site. There is nothing that can beat this store as far as "make your own fun" type stuff goes. I am glad that we shopped here that first time, and I will continue to recommend them as long as they are around.
