Bumble and Bumble Super Rich Conditioner, Does Healthy Hair Need Such A Rich Conditioner?
Written: Feb 03 '05
Product Rating:
Pros: Does what it says it will do, excellent for dry, fragile, damaged hair. mild scent.
Cons: Very expensive. Not available in most stores. Too rich for healthy hair? I think so.
The Bottom Line: This is a great conditioner if you have extremely damaged, dry hair. Not needed or worth the expense if your hair is already in good shape.
artemisadorned's Full Review: Bumble And Bumble Super Rich Conditioner
Bumble and Bumble Super Rich Conditioner was recommended to me by a stylist in a resort hotel's salon. She told me it is one of the best conditioners for color treated hair in the industry. With that kind of sales pitch how could I pass up an opportunity to try it? So I bought this conditioner along with Bumble and Bumble Gentle Shampoo which was also recommended. Since I was on vacation I wanted to splurge and use "pamper me" hair products.

For all hair types, especially unmanageably curly or coarse, chemically-treated or generally parched - this luxurious detangler softens and restores luster and spring. My Experience
Bumble and Bumble Super Rich Conditioner is a very rich, thick white cream that has a pleasant fragrance similar to that of honey, butter and cream. It is a very pleasant, clean fragrance that leaves hair fragrance free. It will not compete with your perfume.
It takes a small amount, a bit less than a quarter size, of this conditioner to fully saturate my below shoulder-length, color treated hair. Because it is so thick, I recommend that you work it in the palms of your hands, warming it up, before you apply it to your hair. I left it in the recommended one minute before rinsing. This conditioner does rinse out quickly and cleanly, residue free; leaving me with tangle-free, moisturized, nourished hair. My hair feels good even wet.
After towel drying, I had no trouble combing through my wet hair. I styled as usual; blew it dry then put large heated rollers into my hair to create more volume and body. After using this conditioner for two consecutive days, I realize that my hair is over conditioned; too soft to hold a curl and not as shiny as my usual shampoo and conditioner leaves it. I also discovered that after using this conditioner, my hair looks better when I straighten it. Bumble and Bumble Super Rich Conditioner does make my hair frizz and static resistant. Although my hair still looks good, I am slightly disappointed with the results. I soon realize that Bumble and Bumble Super Rich Conditioner is too rich a conditioner to use on a daily basis for my already very healthy, shiny hair.
I now use Bumble and Bumble Super Rich Conditioner along with Bumble and Bumble Gentle Shampoo once a week for a deep conditioning treatment. I find this to be most beneficial for my hair. After this treatment, I straighten my hair for a sleek, shiny style.
My Recommendation:
Bumble and Bumble Super Rich Conditioner is truly a great product, if your hair requires intense conditioning to look soft, shiny and become manageable. I do believe that healthy hair doesn't need this kind of super rich conditioning on a regular basis; which can make hair look less shiny and go limp over time.
