Pros: Cleans hair throughly and gently. Fragrance dissipates quickly, will not compete with perfume.
Cons: Terribly expensive-$16 per 8 FL OZ. Not available in most stores.
The Bottom Line: Do you have brittle, fizzy, dry, chemically damaged hair? Then this may be the shampoo for you. Maybe then you can justify this price.

Bumble and Bumble Gentle Shampoo was recommended to me by a stylist in a very expensive, resort hotel salon. After I told her what I wanted a shampoo to do for me, this is the one she recommended. I told her I wanted a shampoo that would help control the "humidity frizz" I get on a hot summer days, and one that will protect and add more shine to my already shiny, color-treated hair. I also told her money was no object. I wanted to use the best shampoo she had. Hey, I was on vacation and felt like making a splurge on hair care products. Just how expensive could a shampoo be? Ok, I was a little surprised, $16 for just 8 OZ. (I also bought the conditioner she recommended, same price and size, ouch.) Off I went, product in hand, hoping for transformational magic.

My Experience
Bumble and Bumble Gentle Shampoo is a rich and creamy white liquid that has a pleasant fragrance similar to that of honey, cream and butter, mixed with herbs. It is a very gentle and clean fragrance that leaves shampooed hair surprisingly fragrance free.
I found that I needed very little shampoo, about a quarter size amount, to thoroughly cleanse my below shoulder-length, color-treated hair. It lathered up easily and bountifully (completely removing all traces of styling product) and rinsed out quickly and easily leaving me with gently cleaned, moisturized hair.
After towel drying, I styled my hair as usual. I blew my hair dry then applied very large heated rollers to my freshly washed and dried hair. My hair was soft and shiny, the curl didn't take as well as it usually does and overtime went limp. My hair is generally full of body, so this was a surprise. I found that this shampoo is better used when I want a blown-out, straightened hair style. But, as promised by the hair stylist who sold Bumble and Bumble Gentle Shampoo to me, my hair didn't get frizzy from the humidity. I also found it helps to control static electricity in the dry winter air.
Did this product live up to my hopes of being transformational? No, not as much as I had hoped. My overall opinion of BUMBLE AND BUMBLE GENTLE SHAMPOO is that it is indeed a very good shampoo, but because of its expense I can't recommend it for everyone. I have used other shampoos that did an equally good job of cleansing my hair. But, I must add that I have very healthy, shiny hair, full of body and strength. I do color my hair myself, with excellent results (according to my hair stylist).
I do believe that if your hair is very fragile, chemically-treated, frizzy, damaged and dry, then this shampoo may be one of the best you will find. If this is the case, and Bumble and Bumble Gentle Shampoo protects and greatly improves your hair's condition, then paying this much for a shampoo is surely worth it.
