Pros: Pre-heated water reservoir provides instant brewing. Long-lasting product.
Cons: Really none
About 11 years ago, I bought this coffee-maker. I thought it might be a different model, but after checking my unit, it is the same. We are STILL using it. I have to say this is the most durable, reliable and best coffee maker I've ever purchased. We use our coffee maker a LOT, and we've never had a problem out of it.
The pre-heated water reservoir makes for instant and quick brewing. The only drawback to this is if you don't use the coffee maker for a couple of days, the water evaporates, but that's not the product, just science. There is a power button for the reservoir heater on the side of the unit that may be switched off that curbs the amount of evaporation. Do note that when you turn this button back on, you should allow 15-30 minutes for the water to re-heat.
The unit is fairly easy to clean. There are little ridges on the buttons and the raised lettering on top of the unit where dirt can become trapped, but I clean them easily with an old toothbrush and damp sponge. The container, pour lid, and coffee well are all top-rack diswasher safe. Use care that you place nothing beside the glass container that may be blown into it with the force of the water and crack/break. The glass container is fairly tough to be so light. Ours has been accidentally bumped on the counter many times, and has never cracked or broken. We've never had to replace any of the pieces, and have had no trouble out of either heater. We've also had no trouble with the plastic cracking or discoloring. Our unit still looks brand new.
If you live in an area with lots of minerals in the water (particularly well water), you will want to run about 1/4 cup of vinegar to a potful of water once a month to help reduce the mineral deposits that can appear on the area where you pour the water and on the tubing ends inside. Follow this by running a potful of hot water through there twice to thoroughly rinse. We did this when we lived in a rural area with well water, and noticed these deposits. The pot remained clean and free of deposits by performing this cleaning regularly. I'm sure this deposit issue would be true of any coffee maker.
I was so impressed with this product, I've bought several of them over the years and given as gifts, and the receivers are just as happy with them as I. When I purchased the product, I got it on sale for $45. They are a little higher now, but still well-worth the money paid for them.
