I had never heard of this board game before. My daughter received it as a gift during the holidays. Its a cute little game with bunnies hopping all over the place. Well, they are sort of hopping!
The Game
This is a manual game with NO sounds, really. There is a lot to be said for quiet games and games without sound built in by the manufacturer.
This is made by Educational Insights We have the Design and Drill Activity Center which is also made by this company, and we truly enjoy that as well!
This game can have 2 4 players and it is made for ages 4 (Grades Pre-K). It comes with a bunny board, which holds 20 bunnies with 5 bunnies in each of the following colors: Green, Red, Yellow and Blue.
There are 4 farmers, 1 of each of the above colors and a die.
The bunnies are placed into the corresponding hole colors. The person with yellow is supposed to put their yellow bunnies in the holes, gently. When putting them in, they are supposed to use their memory of which of the yellow bunnies will spring out of their carrot patch holes, and which ones will not hop! Some of the bunnies have special pins in them that allow them to spring out of their holes when you gently push them down (when you roll the die and match the bunny color) and then you push your farmers hat down. If the bunny hops out of the hole, it is yours to keep.
Each player, when putting in their bunnies, needs to remember the jumping bunnies and the non-jumping bunnies. This way, when they roll the die, if they land on their color, they should know which bunny will hop out of the hole.
The die has yellow, red, blue and green on it. And, it has a multi-color side and a trade side. If you hit the multi-color, you can pick whichever colored bunny you are going to try to grab.
To win the game, you need to have 1 of each color bunny in your hand. If you do, you win!
The trade die roll requires you to trade one of your bunnies with someone else playing (as long as they have scored a hopping bunny). If you roll and get the trade, but you dont have any bunnies to trade, you try rolling again to see what you might get.
Overall Impressions
The Bunny Hop game is very cute and enjoyable. The bunnies are about 1 ½ inches tall and little hands are able to easily put them into the game board. Its exciting trying to see how the roll of the die and the bunnies in the board will play out. My daughter enjoys playing this game quite a bit. I think we break this game out every day and play 2 -3 rounds each day!
She enjoys trying to remember which bunnies (of all colors) will not jump. Because, when she rolls the die, she wants to ensure she is not picking the bunny that I just picked that did not jump out of their hole. She wants to win with the most bunnies!
Its very quick and easy to set up and it is not very noisy at all. The bunnies hop up quite well, and you do not have to use a lot of force.
The game states that it conforms to the ASTM F 963, is made in China.

If you are looking for a decent little game for toddlers and pre-k children, this is a cute game that combines memory with trading and taking and game play, this should be one that you check out. Its quite fun to play!
