Pros: Will surely take somethin' off your hands!
Cons: Too abrasive, doesn't clean dirt well
The Bottom Line: Blech. Don't pay the money for this Burt's Bees product as it doesn't stand up to the regular competition.

Have you ever tried that Lava hand soap? The one that pretty much scraped off the top layer of skin to get the dirt off your hands? Well, this Gardener’s Soap is a bit like that but not quite as harsh. I got this hand soap in a Head-to-toe starter kit and just recently tried it out. I have been sticking with my Sun and Earth hand soap because it’s the best hand soap I’ve ever used and best of all it’s got basic ingredients like orange oil and water! Unfortunately, this Burt’s Bees product will not be taking over Sun & Earth’s spot next to my sink.
What It Is
The Gardener’s Hand Soap is a vegetable based hand soap with added ingredients to aid in cleaning the ‘gardening’ dirt off your hands. Pumice (just recently added into their Gardener’s Soap) and cornmeal are the two ingredients that do most of the work. Rosemary and comfrey help with the ‘sniff factor’ as well as aiding in cleaning.
Nothin’ Special
To me, this is just a really strong smelling bar of exfoliating soap and nothing more. It doesn’t magically remove dirt or oils that you get from working outside. It works no better than a washcloth and some nice hot water. I really didn’t like the smell. I enjoy rosemary but it must be the other ingredients that just overpower the rosemary scent and this happens often with Burt’s Bees products. Lavender oil even comes before the rosemary on the list but you don’t get a smell of lavender either. Possibly the two mixed together just make a horrible concoction. Either way, you get my point-this stuff stinks and it way to harsh for the end result.
Ingredients
Vegetable soap base, glycerin, corn meal, lavender oil, rosemary oil, eucalyptus oil, comfrey root powder, rosemary leaves. (99.76% Natural)
If you like this soap try Burt’s Bees Hand Salve, Insect Lotion, and Poison Ivy Soap which work hand in hand (get it, hand in hand? hehe) with the Gardener’s Soap. If you don’t like this soap or the strong smell of Burt’s Bees products try the Sun and Earth hand soap which works like a dream.
Final Thought
Don’t go out and pay the high price for Burt’s Bees soap when any other Softsoap or cheap soap at the store will do!
Since I got this in a Head-To-Toe package I don't know the price but I have seen bars go for as little as $3 and as much as $7 at online stores.
