I am a slave to memory - of scents and sensations of my grandmother's beauty products in particular. I loved to twist off the top of her chosen brand of moisturizer, to pour a little of her everyday hand lotion onto my palm and imagine how beautiful I hoped I'd be when I grew up. Now, my enjoyment of lotions, creme's and moisturizers are partially a trip down memory lane, and an attempt to keep time from sculpting too many lines..
What is it for?
Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme is for trips down memory lane (think Jergens distinctive scent in their 1950's lotion), dealing with chapped, dry, roughened skin, and forestalling the signs of time.
The label describes it as "super emollient almond creme", and I can say it describes it accurately. I also agree wholeheartedly with the label statement that hands are one of the first areas to show signs of aging.
What's in it?
Twist off the metal top from this small round glass jar, and find 2 oz. of thick, melts to the touch, milky almond colored cream.
Ingredients: Sweet Almond Oil, water, beeswax, carrageenan extract, aloe barbadensis gel, kaolin(natural clay), grapefruit seed extract, sodium borate(natural borax), glucose(sugar), glucose oxidate(natural enzyme), lactoperoxidase(natural milk enzyme), tocopherol(vitamin E),fragrance. I list all of these for those with various allergies, or who like to know what they are about to put onto their skin. The label proudly states it is "98.00% Natural".
How does it work?
The smell of almonds is soothing to me, but it is not a faint scent, this is a strongly scented product. That said, once applied to your hands (or elbows, feet, knees..anywhere you have chapped, rough or dry skin) and absorbed, all that lingers is a slight smell of beeswax. I found it very pleasant to apply, as the thick creme softens on your fingertips, it spreads like melting butter where applied, and while it does take a few minutes to completely absorb, and has a "shine" while absorbing, it does absorb completely and leaves wonderfully comforted, softened skin. If you have ever dealt with chapped fingers, you know how quickly you want that discomfort to end. Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme works swiftly and well, and only requires a small amount each application. I expect this jar will be with me for many more weeks. And if it brings back memories of Grandmother, and times spent with her, what a priceless extra benefit from a little jar of creme.

What a wonderful discovery! Amazing what a sale at one of one's favorite online stores will do for being adventurous and trying something new. I already found heaven in Burt's Bee's Orange Essence Facial Cleanser, and wanted to see if anything else in their line, could become as special a part of my daily or weekly routine. This is a keeper, a functional, not too expensive luscious skin creme that does what it promises, and whose heavenly sweet almond scent brings a memory and a smile, each time I open the jar.
