Pros: Good value; natural product; recyclable packaging; absorbs well and creates a healthy glow
Cons: No sunscreen
Part of Burt’s Bees ‘Radiance’ range, this lovely day crème may look, in its simple packaging, rather clinical but just a few days use will demonstrate that this is a premium beauty product at a pocket friendly price from a company well known for using natural ingredients that are kind to the environment as well as to the skin.
As well as being fully recyclable, the packaging – a simple glass jar with a screw cap – enables you to use the last little bit of the product. How many times have you had to discard a tube knowing that you’ve probably got another few days worth of the product you can’t get at? This product contains 55ml of crème so it’s one that you can take in your hand luggage when flying or easily stash in a handbag. Although it’s not a large amount, a little goes a long way and this package will easily last you a couple of months, making it good value.
Burt’s Bees say this product is suitable for all skin types and for all ages and claim that it nourishes and enhances the skin, restoring its natural radiance. It is formulated with royal jelly which is well know for its therapeutic benefits for the skin along with a whole host of vitamins, botanical oils and nutrients. As with all Burt’s Bees products, everything is natural – there no chemicals and no artificial colorants.
The rich crème is rich and smooth without being too heavy and has a feeling of luxury that belies its modest price tag. It has very faint fragrance of orange which is very pleasing. A small amount on the fingertips is enough for one application and the crème works easily into the skin. It’s absorbed quickly without a hint of greasiness and imparts a healthy but gentle glow and has an instant smoothing effect on the skin. An extra advantage of this product is that you can apply other cosmetic products on top of it straight away because it absorbs so well and layering products doesn’t feel heavy, as if its clogging my skin pores. However, I do find that on the whole I’m less inclined to reach for a tube of foundation now as I find that the Burt’s Bees Radiance Day Creme gives my skin a good healthy glow.
I’ve experienced none of the irritation I’ve had with more synthetic products from time to time and find that I can use this product with no ill effects even if I’ve had a little too much sun. On the downside this product doesn’t contain any sun protection but this can be easily remedied by using a light sunscreen on top.
This package retails at $30.72 on the Burt's Bees website (remember to register for loyalty points if you buy direct from them) so it's not a budget product but it does represent great value.
I'd thoroughly recommend this product ,especially if you have spot prone skin that tends to react to other moisturisers. This easy to use product is gentle and hydrating and is a simple product to incorporate into the beauty routine of even the busiest person.
