Pros: It smells like gin. It left my skin softer.
Cons: It smells like gin but gin is less expensive.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend if you can live with a potentially leaky bottle.

| MagickCat's Full Review: Burt's Bees Burts Bees Garden Tomato Toner for Nor... |
Burt's Bees natural and earth friendly image has always appealed to me, as has the idea that I can get products for my face with not only identifiable but also pronounceable
ingredients.
Like so many other people I received a Burt's Bees sample kit as a gift last Christmas. Thrilled with the kit I went onto purchase many Burt's Bees full sized products after the samples had been used up. Unfortunately I found out the expensive way that many of the products I had sampled were only o.k to use on my face for about a week before some sort of irritation, or break out occurred.
I had such high expectations come crashing down with Burt's Bees in 2003.
Because of my great disappointment I had pretty much wrote Burt's Bees off of my 2004 buy list. That is until I spotted my very favorite sample, Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Toner, calling out to me from the cosmetics shelf.
Insert bottle into Brown bag?
Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Toner comes in a 8 fl. oz. (236 ml) frosted glass bottle and is 99.42% natural. The bottle's futuristic metal cap looks cool and like it should be functional but looks can be greatly deceiving.
I have never come across a more cantankerous twist off top in my life. This lid is a 120 year old living in a 16 year olds body.
It spills and it leaks!
No matter how tightly I close the damned bottle every time I come into the bathroom toner is dribbling down the bottle and staining the frosted glass. It drives me nuts because so much of my toner is wasted in the process of just opening the bottle up.
Just a Swig or two will fix You
Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Toner is very easy to use. Simply wash your face and dab the Garden Tomato Toner on with a cotton ball.
Supposedly the toner is not only supposed to remove dead skin cells and soap residues, but also restore the pH of your skin.
While I can't attest to what Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Toner has done for my pH, my face definitely has less patches of flaking dead skin now that I am using it. Also I am surprised at how much gross stuff is on the cotton puff after I apply the toner.
I didn't think that after just washing my face so much crud would still be left on it.
Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Toner has also made my skin feel slightly tighter and smoother. So I am satisfied that this purchase wasn't a complete waste of money.
You say Tomato, I say Tom..er... Gin!
One thing I love about Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Toner is the smell. It has a distinctly fresh and uplifting aroma but don't expect to be smelling tomatoes! The main reason I bought this toner is because I remember really enjoying how it smelled.
I asked my Mom if Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Toner smelled like anything she recognized because I'd like to get a perfume similar to its fragrance
.
Much to my horror she answered, "Oh you mean gin?"
I of course didn't believe her so she told me to go smell the gin in our liquor cabinet and sure enough Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Toner does smell like gin.
Is it worth it?
So far I've used up about 25% of my bottle and would have to say yes. Though the price kills me at 16.99 Canadian (that is almost half the cost of a gameboy advance game) I do not feel as if I am getting ripped off, and over the last 20 days of use I have seen an improvement in my skin.
Ingredients:
Filtered water, SD alcohol 40-B (from yellow corn), vegetable glycerin, extracts of cucumber, green tea, parsley, tomato, bilberry, sugar cane, sugar maple, orange and lemon (natural source of alpha-hydroxy acids), fragrance.

Burt's Bees also suggest you use their toner as "instant relief for hot, humid, polluted, stuffy and other stressful conditions."
Right.
