Leave it to a bee guy to know how to keep bugs from biting (or stinging). I've always hated DEET, not only does it smell bad, but something in the formula gives me insomnia as well. I'm glad to hear about this alternative.

According to Burt's site:
Burt's Bees Herbal Insect Repellent is safe enough to apply with confidence to children and pets.
I would assume that the ingredients make it fairly inert. The only thing I was unsure of was the citronella oil, but I looked and don't see any evidence of toxicity (except to possibly birds). I wouldn't want my kid to drink it, but it's probably fairly harmless.

for the excellent recommendation - I'm always on the lookout for natural insect repellents. I assume that this is non-toxic and safe for kids?
