Burt’s Bees Concealing Cream – Good Coverage

Written: Jan 28 '04
Pros:All natural; med-heavy coverage; good for problematic skin
Cons:Not found in my local stores
The Bottom Line: Burt's Bees Concealing Cream covers my problems better than any other. And it's all natural ingredients are non-irritating for my skin.

The older I get, the more I need to conceal. And the harder it gets, too. Mother Nature, you’re a cruel, cruel woman!

Under-eye circles have always been a bit of a challenge. Suffering from multiple allergies, I’ve always had puffiness, darkness, or redness in that area. And now that I’m mid-thirties, that area – especially the corner near my nose – seems to also be thinning. The bluish cast in that part of the eye is THE most difficult to cover up. My liquid concealers – even the one with yellow tones – weren’t cutting it any longer.

Enter Burt’s Bees Concealing Cream. When I was scanning their website for the Burt's Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser , I saw the concealer also on sale. Some of the reviewers here didn’t care for the Concealing Cream much because they found it “thick” or “waxy”. But I found it exactly what I needed.

What you get

Although my skin color usually falls in the medium category, since the blue/dark areas are my main concern, I purchased the Light formula. The brushed silvery tin does contain a thick, waxy cream. In fact, when you put your finger in, you’ll most likely think it will be too heavy.

So, I only took a little on the tip of my ring finger. Just like cooking, it’s always easier to add then to take away. The cream was actually pretty easily applied. It went on less smoothly than a liquid, but easier than some sticks I’ve used in past. Because of it’s consistency, I am afraid to use too much of this around my eyes. I do not want to accentuate or create the illusion of more wrinkles.

Burt’s Bees Concealing Cream covered my under-eye problems better than any other I’ve used to date. And since I don’t have to use very much at one time, I’m confident that the 0.11oz tin will last quite a while. Well worth it’s price in my opinion.

Burt’s Bees’ website

Burt’s Bees products can be purchased directly from their website. Normally I would purchase beauty and health products from a larger drugstore-type site. These usually have better deals. But when compared, I found most of the Burt’s Bees products were only pennies cheaper from those sites. Additionally, Burt’s Bees website has a Factory Outlet page where certain items will be offered at a discount. The items offered in the Outlet page seems to change frequently, so check often. It’s a nice way to try out their products.

You might also be able to buy Burt’s Bees products from some local stores in your area. The site also features a store locator. My local Burt’s Bees carriers don’t carry the concealer yet.

The web site normally carries the Concealing Cream for $9.00 per 0.11oz. I was lucky enough to find it at half price.

How it works; or doesn’t

Burt’s Bees’ web site states, “…this emollient and vitamin-rich concealing creme hides skin imperfections, under eye circles and blemishes while providing real skin care benefits. Its moisturizing formula evens out skin tone to cover facial flaws naturally and perfectly.”

I find this statement absolutely true on my skin. At the beginning of the year, I began fighting breakouts on my cheeks. Burt’s Bees natural ingredients do not irritate this area further. I love that I can cover these embarrassing areas without exacerbating the problem!
