Snowboarding became a hobby after skiing for me. I was an expert skier, but wanted to try something new. Snowboarding apealed to me. Fun, dangerous, and in the snow. After using horrible rental equipment, I decided to go all out and buy some extreme gear.
I went to a local Snowboard shop and picked up all my gear. Salomon Brushee Boots, Size 13 1/2, Preston LX bindings, and a burton Floater 163. I'm 6'1'', so I need a board as big as possible.
My first experience with the board was at Sierra at Tahoe. Bad day of snow, but the board carved through the ice nicely. Slightly heavy, but in a comforting way, this board was built with stability in mind. It doesn't have the fastest bottom, being fiberglass, but with weight, it carries some major speed. Fantastic for bombing hills.
I found the biggest problem, though small, was the weight in the board makes it tough to do Pipe and some aerial moves. If you have huge feet though, you need a huge board. And this board outperforms the Fatbob incredibly. It has a nice feel, decent design, and rides in powder like a dream.
I cannot explain the joy of cruising in deep powder with this board. It cuts through it like a hot knife through butter. The sleekness of the board gives maximum performance for powder. No board is better for slicking through the ungroomed.
I love this board and plan to use it till they invent a lightweight board for people with size 14 feet. Until then, keep bombing the hills, and work on your pipe!!
