| mommykd's Full Review: Burts Bees Avacado Butter Hair Treatment |
Did that get your attention? Are you wondering what could possibly make my cat want to suck on my hair? My only guess could be the wonderful scent left behind from using Burts Bees Avocado Butter Hair Treatment. Because this is not a normal occurrence - my cat does not usually suck on my hair or any other parts of my body! Well, there was that one time, but.........oh yeah - back to my review.
Burt's Bees Avocado Butter Hair Treatment is a hair treatment designed to deeply condition, strengthen and soften hair and help repair split ends. For hair that has been damaged by sun, chlorine, styling, etc. It restores manageability, luster and volume to lifeless hair. Penetrates hair follicles with emollient oils, nourishing vitamins, protein and amino acids to promote healthy sheen and fuller, stronger hair.
Ingredients:
Vegetable glycerin, olive oil, oat protein, avocado oil, orange oil, lanolin, sweet almond oil, water, tocopherol (vitamin E), nettle extract, rosemary extract, fragrance.(99.25% Natural)
Directions for use:
While in the shower, wet hair completely and massage or comb one tablespoon of Burt's Bees Avocado Butter Hair Treatment into your hair and work through to the ends. Leave the butter in place while you shower (longer if you have time). Shampoo as usual. Use daily or as needed.
My experience:
I have a trial size of Burt's Bees Avocado Butter Hair Treatment, so I decided to give it a try to help me decide if I will purchase a full size tube. Weekend was winding down, both kids are in bed, and husband is settled down on the couch watching baseball. It was a perfect time to take a long hot bath. Also a perfect time to try the hair treatment at least if it was messy Id have two opportunities to wash it out before going out in public. When I opened the tube by turning the top around and puncturing the seal the first thing I noticed was the green gooey color. It looks like very thick motor oil or something. Maybe even a little like dark green slime. I also noticed the pleasant scent it smells like peaches to me. So much so, that I read the list of ingredients again to see if it contained anything peach. I forgot to lock the door, so my daughter got out of bed and came in to use the bathroom while I was in the tub. She asked me why I was eating peaches in the bathtub. When I tried telling her I wasnt, she said Well, I smell peaches!
On to the usage:
I applied it to my hair according to the directions and combed it through. It combed through very easily and wasnt sticky or gooey at all. Since the directions said to leave on while you shower, longer if you have time, I left the treatment on my hair for about 20 minutes. After I finished bathing, I only rinsed the treatment out and let my hair dry naturally. The next morning, I washed my hair as I normally would with my regular shampoo,Loreal Fresh Vive, and styled as usual blow dry and a few curls with the curling iron. I did notice a difference in the softness and luster of my hair, with no greasy or heavy feel left behind even though I hadnt washed the treatment out the night before.
No effects at all on my scalp no irritation, but no noticeable benefit either. Of course, the product is not massaged into the scalp; it is applied to and combed through the hair.
Overall:
The directions for Burt's Bees Avocado Butter Hair Treatment say to use daily or as needed. My hair is normal not dry or permed, so I do not think I would need to use this more than once a week. I did like the scent and the way it made my hair feel, so I think I might just get a full size tube when my travel size is gone!
I didnt forget about my cat:
When I went to bed, my hair was still a little damp. We have 2 indoor cats, and they both sleep in the bed with us one at our heads, the other between us or wherever he decides to deposit his 17 year old self. The cat that sleeps at our heads weighs about 15 pounds, so its very obvious when she is there. Well
I was almost asleep when I felt something tugging at my hair, and I heard a sucking noise. When I turned my head or tried to I discovered that the fat cat was sucking on my hair!! She has NEVER done this before, so I can only imagine it must have been something in the hair treatment that attracted her.
Available in 4 ounce tube for approximately $8.00
