| outtawp's Full Review: BUSlink (RW12832) CD-RW Burner |
I am a first time CD-RW owner and did not know much about the market. I came across the Buslink CD-RW product and was attracted by its high capabilities for a reasonable price. I ended up just giving it a try.
Upon receiving the product in the mail I first had to install it since it was an internal drive. The installation took me less than 20 minutes, most of which was just getting the cover off my computer. It comes with decent, though not great, installation instructions. But, the product was so simple to install that I could of basically figured it out without them by looking at my regular CD-ROM drive and modeling after it.
Next was the software package that came with the product. It is a great software package which many options and features, of which I still do not know how to use many of them. Though if interested in a simple burn it is easy to accomplish this. You get to choose between various CD options: data CD, audio CD, mixed CD, CD copy, among many others. When making an audio CD that will work in your CD player you are given a Windows explorer type of window. Here you just drag and drop the files you would like. The software can even burn straight from mp3 files unlike many of my friends whose software does not support this option and have to covert mp3s to wav files before burning. Then with a few more mouse clicks the CD begins its burn.
The performance of the product is also great. It has 16X write capability, 10X reWrite, and 40X read. This is even faster than my normal CD-ROM drive. CDs can be burned in less than 4 minutes on my computer. This is a nice addition and keeps you from waiting.
Overall the Buslink CD-ReWritable is a great product. As a first time owner it was easy for me to install and use. Its software has many features and options yet to be discovered, but it still easy to use for basic burning needs. Its high performance capabilities finish off its strong performance.
