Have you been to Utah lately? Are you familiar with the oil fields? If not, you may find yourself in a jam some parts of the year when almost all of the hotels are filled solid with workers. Thankfully, we didn’t run into that problem and our over night stay in Vernal, Utah was easy going.
Driving into Vernal, Utah it quickly becomes obvious that a new hotel hasn’t been built in years. Every hotel is older with all the rooms accessible from the outside and a little pool in the center of the parking lot. After taking a ride through most of town on Highway 40, we immediately stopped when we saw the newly remodeled Best Western Antlers. In fact this redo was so current that they we’re still working on their outdoor swimming pool during our stay (I’m sure its finished now).
Negotiate Price
If you vacation much you may find that you can negotiate your price at some hotels. You can definitely do that here. Our first quoted price was $140 plus tax, but we ended up paying just over $120 after tax, so we knocked a little bit off.
The Room
Its evident that remodeling is rampant at Best Western Antlers. The rooms haven’t been completely overhauled, but they’re in great shape.
Our room included a sitting area at the front window, which featured 2 nice padded rocking chairs. And by nice I mean out of the ordinary for a hotel room. A table was placed between the two chairs. The windows, instead of curtains, featured plantation shutters, which gave the room a nice fresh touch.
Our room had 2 queen beds, which were fairly new and a nightstand was in between the beds. Along the opposing wall is a desk with a chair, an armoire with a TV, microwave, refrigerator and wardrobe/closet.
The bathroom was definitely included in the remodel. The bath tub/shower and toilet are closed off into a separate room, while a single sink with tons of counter space, a coffee maker, and hairdryer are just outside the bathroom door.
Is It Clean?
Yep. Newly remodeled and clean! You can’t beat that.
Amenities
The Best Western Antlers doesn’t have many amenities. The pool (like I said) was closed while we were there, but it looked like they were just finishing it up.
A small fitness room with a whirlpool is just behind the pool area and an ice & vending machine room is next to it. These are located in a building in the center of the hotel property.
Other that that Antlers doesn’t offer much of anything else, except for free wireless connection for those with laptops.
They also don’t offer any kind of continental breakfast, but they do have a restaurant next door that offers good service and food.
Overall
Best Western Antlers doesn’t have a lot to offer in the way of amenities, but the property and rooms are well taken care of.
