I purchased this lens after reading rave reviews from users at another site. Unfortunately I can't seem to find it again or I'd put the link here. Suffice to say that it hasn't disappointed me. Put this lens on a tripod, stop it down some and it is absolutely brilliant. Other reviewers compared it favorably to Canon's L series lenses. I have to agree with them, it really is a remarkably sharp lens, and for US $239.00 it's crazy not to add this to your kit. Of course, all is not a bed of roses, either. Autofocus is not it's strong point. Sometimes it's ok, other times it just keeps hunting in and out and can't seem to find the subject. I find myself going to manual focus more than I should have to. But as the other reviewer pointed out, macro work calls for manual focus anyway, given the tiny DOF (unless you stop down to f32). Also, it is not USM, so even when working properly it's not quite as slick as other Canon lenses.
