Pros: A wonderful collector instrument.
The CF Martin 175 Anniversary Guitar was made in 2008 by the Martin Company. This guitar represents 175 years of guitar production. The Guitar was made in the USA, and there are only 175
of these made.
The differences between this guitar and other Martins. On my D-28, on the headstock, it says, Martin and Co. Under this script it has EST in 1833. The CF Martin 175 Anniversary has a pearl inlaid script that says, 1833- 2008 and under the years, AMERICA'S GUITAR.
The guitar could be bought in the year 2008 when it was produced. Another difference in the CF Martin 175 Anniversary guitar, is it has at the 12 fret behind the 5 and 6 string is the logo 1833, behind the 4 and 3rd string the logo 175 years and behind the 1's and 2nd string is 2008, all done in pearl inlaid. This guitar is a solid guitar no lament or HPL.
The construction is Mahogany blocks, and Dovetail Neck Joint. The body size is D. The top on this guitar Solid Adirondack spruce. This looks as beautiful as the sound that comes from the guitar. The finished top is polished gloss with aging toner. Yes, this adds to the price of the guitar. The top bracing pattern X Scalloped. The saddle is 16" Radius made out of Bone. The tuning machines are made out of Waverly Nickel.
The back and sides are made out of Solid Madagascar Rosewood. The binding on the guitar is solid Hawaiian Koa. This also is something different. The nut on this guitar is Bone. Headplate is solid black EBony, and so is the fingerboard. The fingerboard inlays are Diamonds and Squares. The bridge is 1930s style belly with drop in long saddle. The bridge endpins are bone with black dots. The paper label has a photo of Chris Martin and family.
The guitar comes with a special anniversary case. The case is the 545 Geib Style with the 175th anniversary logo. The guitar has a limited lifetime warranty. The guitar also gives the option of electronics. I like the way it sounds just like it is. The guitar sold in 2008 for $6,000.00.
If you want one of these guitars, I doubt if you could find one, but you could call the company at (610)759-2837, or look on the website at martinguitar.com.
In conclusion, I love the way the guitar was put together and the materials used. If your in Nazareth, PA check it out. A great investment. Thank you for reading my review.
