OVERVIEW I have been using this phone for about two months now at work. It is a substantial improvement in technology compared to our old phone system. The improvements include: caller que, headset option, a good selection of ringers, caller ID, redial, transfer calls, mute, speakerphone, good volume and microphone response, a clock and date. All those things I mentioned we DID NOT HAVE with our previous stone-age phone system.
FEATURES Lots of nifty features,
The monochrome LCD screen is just there. If there is no phone activity it doesn't do anything special, and is rather boring to look at. There is an option for backgrounds but none came with the phone I use so I don't have any. The display shows the clock and calendar and your phone's extension if you have one.
ringers make incoming calls seem more friendly. Then when customers start screaming its not so bad. There are ringers that sound like a common phone ring, or not so common ringers that sound like music or a firetruck.
Incoming calls are recognized by the ringing sound you choose and the flashing of red LEDs on the handset and on the unit itself under the handset (I guess so if you're on a call you can see the flash of a new call.)
Caller Id is wonderful, I can call people back if cell phones drop calls and I can see if someone is calling repetitively in a harassing manner.
Headset option allows a headset to be connected. We use a plantronics CS55 in my office.
Clock, and date! I know what time and date it is now without looking at my cell phone!
Call history, I can see all incoming, missed, and placed calls so redialing is very easy.
VOLUME Good volume,
Speakerphone volume is nice and clear with a little bass in the tone. The microphone in speakerphone mode is good also, I have never had a complaint of someone not being able to hear me.
Mute button is like a hold option but you can still hear the person on the other end if there is a problem.
Ringer volume, is adjustable which is nice since the old phone used to make me jump when the office was quiet.
Handset, volume is nice crisp and clear with a little bass like the speakerphone.
OPERATION The phone is easy to operate, you log in on the computer with your ID and password, then you can access the phone. We have plantronics CS55 headsets that make the phone hands free and that is a dream come true. Now my hands are free to pull up contracts on the computer as the person is speaking but my neck isn't breaking from holding the phone on my shoulder.
Calls are logged and the router que displays calls that are waiting on your computer screen. If there is someone waiting to talk to you, you can wrap up your current conversation more quickly by noticing the router que call.
The phone has a stand in the back that allows it to sit upright, this makes viewing its lcd monochrome screen easier because you don't have to move your body over the phone to see who is calling.
Soft keys on the phone are programmed with useful functions like: redial, place new call, etc. There is a function to view all missed calls, incoming calls, and placed calls.
Transferring calls are difficult because you have to be on a call, push transfer, then quickly dial the number before the phone times out on the new call, then push transfer before that time runs out. Its a pain because its cumbersome and only gives you a matter of seconds.
Holding calls, is easy, just push the hold button and your customer is placed on hold and allowed to enjoy whatever muzak or brainwash your company provides.
There is a voice mail function but I don't have experience using it.
So all in all its just a phone, but as far as work goes, I like my job better because of this phone.
