brentp256's Full Review: COCA COLA Coca-Cola Usa Coca-Cola Diet Coke Can - ...
Cans....the third best way to drink diet coke (the first being a well-mixed fountain version, the second being out of a glass bottle).
Diet Coke is a caramel-colored bubbly soda-pop drink that has been love of diet-drinkers and the bane of aspartame haters for many years. It was introduced in 1982 has has been a sales success ever since.
I love diet coke and drink it several times a day. It is the bitter taste and the caffeine jolt that endear me to it above all other drinks.
Container
The 12 Oz. can is an ideally sized container, as 12 ounces is just enough to be refreshing, without being too much or too little (20 ounc bottles and half-cans...I'm looking at you!). The downside of the can is that it adds a slight metallic taste to the drink that you don't get in glass bottles or from the fountain (but still tastes better then the plastic-y taste from 20-ounce bottles and 2-liters). The best way I've found to combat this is to put it into a glass with ice-cubes. This helps cut the metallic taste out, as you are not sticking your mouth on a metal can (I find 3 standard-sized ice-cubes works best...not too little, and not so much that the drink becomes watered down).
Packaging
A good 24 pack carton is an ideal solution for buying and storage, unless you prefer to keep the package in your refrigerator, then the 12-pack fridge-pack container is the ideal solution.
Dieting and Health Concerns
For dieting, Diet Coke is a good options, as each drink has only 1 calorie. For some, though, the aspartame used in it will be a turn-off, as it is alleged to cause cancer and it can trigger migraine headaches in certain people (my wife, for one). Final Thoughts
I love Diet Coke! I recommend it over the sickly-sweet Diet Pepsi and the generic off-brands. It has the right mixture of bubbly, flavor, and a delicious bitterness that I enjoy.
