| nate78's Full Review: COMMTECH Figure - Queen Amidala (Coruscant) |
My review of this action figure must be two-fold to be totally accurate. First, I will discuss this figure in the context of a "collectible" purchased by an adult collector of Star Wars toys. Second, I will discuss the play value of this toy as if I where 7 years old.
As a collector, figures of this detail and quality are a good buy and at times a rare find. It took my several trips to the Wal Mart in order to find this particular figure, and when I did, there was only one left. Female action figures (especially Star Wars) have always been of higher value to the collector, on the whole. I left this figure in its original packaging, as most collectors do. The entire presentation with the "Episode 1" card back along with the figure itself make for a very nice collector's piece.
I also purchased a duplicate figure a few weeks later from and online toy shop. This one, I had every intention of removing from the box and playing with. (Yes, I play with toys on occasion). This figure does not have much movement or versatility in her poses. However, in the film when Queen Amidala is wearing this particular costume, she doesn't have much movement anyway. She stands before the Senate and simply rises from her seat. This is about the extent of her mobility in a costume that ornate. So, if you are looking for a Queen Amidala that can recreate movement and action from the movie, this is probably not your best bet. If you, however, wish to recreate Senate hearings on Coruscant, then by all means this figure will provide you (or your child) with hours of play time.
