| daddym's Full Review: CREST Cavity Protection 4.6 oz For Kids |
When kids first learn to brush their teeth you don't want to scare them off by a toothpaste that is too spicey. At least that is what my kids used to call regular toothpaste, they would say, "It's too spicey, I don't like it." Of course this made them not want to brush their teeth so we had to go and get them a toothpaste that was made more for kids, and was less "spicey."
We tried a few different brands but the one that our kids likes the most is the Kid's Crest Cavity Protection toothpaste.
It comes is a smaller tube than regular adult toothpaste. The actual amount of product in the tube is 4.6 oz. Even though there is less toothpaste the childrens toothpaste costs nearly as much as the adult toothpaste. There is nothing else new or creative about the tube it is just a standard toothpaste tube. No characters or anything fancy about it, other than the word Kid's written in colorful letters over the word Crest.
The color of the toothpaste is like a transparent blue color. To me it tastes a lot like peice of Bazooka bubble gum, even though it is not named as bubble gum flavor.
The toothpaste does contain floride so it should only be used on children 2 years or older. The manufacturer also strongly suggests that the toothpaste should be kept out of reach of children younger than 6, and if excess toothpaste is swalloed you may need to get medical assistance or contact poison control This is nothing to worry about of course unless a child takes and entire tube and squeezes a bunch of toothpaste in to his mouth and swallows it. Children under 6 should only get about a pea sized amount on their brush. This will keep them from swallowing more toothpaste than they should. It is suggested that this toothpaste be used at least 2 times a day after meals, pretty much the same thing any other toothpaste manufacturer will tell you.
Active Ingredients: Sodium Flouride 0.243% (0.15% w/v flourdide ion)
Kid's Crest is recommended by the American Dental Association.
Kid's Crest is a nice toothpaste for kids to start out with. It is not very strong. As I said above it tastes like bubble gum with just a hint of minty toothpaste flavor.
My kids really like the taste, and don't complain that it is too strong. The last time my wife tried to give them another children's toothpaste to save a little money the kids complained so much my wife had to go out and get them a tube of Kid's Crest.
Kid's Crest also comes from a trusted toothpaste maker. My wife has used Crest her whole life and only has only gotten 2 small cavities her entire life, and I have stopped getting cavities since she got me hooked on Crest as well. In fact my wife swears she got the one cavity during the one time in her life that she didn't use Crest.
So far my kids don't have any cavities either and I have to owe thanks to the Kid's Crest for that.
There is not a whole lot more that I can say about this product, other than it works great.
So if you want a toothpaste that your kids will actually like and that you can be confident that it will do a good job, I highly recommend Kid's Crest Cavity Protection.
