I have had this radio for many years now. It is a little expensive but well worth the money if you are big time radio listener like myself. It excels best at DX'ing or pulling in am stations over long distances. It is designed for news and talk listening but also provides decent mono FM listening. It also has a tv band for ch 2-13 (VHF spectrum) audio only. Finally it has the national weather service NOAA channels with the weather alert option. This option lets the weather service alert you by tone or flashing led only (your choice) if hazardous weather is possible in your listening area. You can also turn it off completely if you like so there is no alert at all. The tuning is digital so you tune in the station precisely. It also has 5 push buttons on top of the radio (such as in your car) so you can preset your most listened to stations on them. It comes with an ac adapter and the information with it states it runs 250 hrs on D batteries (which are not included). It has a telescopic antenna which is used for FM, TV, and the NOAA weather channels. The AM antenna is built in and you rotate the radio to adjust reception on AM. It has a jack for an earphone or headphone and I have found that useful. You can plug into the earphone and run the wire to a tape recorder if you would like to tape programs. It also has a sleep time for 90, 60, 30, or 15 min of listening before automatically shutting off. (Very helpful feature if you are in a hurry when leaving and forget to turn off the radio.) The display is a large LCD which is back lit.
