Manufacturer Details
The first liner sock and insulating boot sock knit together as one piece of fabric. Because the Ingenius liner is fully integrated with the outer fabric, this eliminates the bunching and friction that can be caused by wearing two socks or even a sock with two separate layers. By knitting the layers together, this also increases the effective moisture-wicking properties of the sock. Included in the makeup is X-Static silver nylon, a unique material that takes pure silver and bonds it to the surface of a fiber. The result is outstanding odor prevention using an antimicrobial layer. X-Static accomplishes this by releasing silver ions to change the chemical composition of the elements that produce odor and bacteria. Made in USA.
Epinions Details
This is the world's first liner sock and insulating boot sock knit together as one. The outer sock is a soft, warm blend of 80% Merino wool, 15% stretch nylon and 5% spandex, and the liner is 100% olefin. Together they create comfortable, dry sanctuary for your feet and simplify your preparation for a day in the woods. Because of their superior perspiration-wicking properties, these socks complement breathable fabrics and are recommended by W.L. Gore and Associates for use with GORE-TEX-lined boots and shoes.
Why I Bought
I purchased these for when its cold outside and my feet perspire a lot no matter the temperature and are great for hunting boots or shoes. These socks help your feet stay dry while out hunting that monster buck or other wild game. I wanted to try out these because of the built-in sock liner and its outstanding reputation for controlling odor.
Usefulness
They have plenty of comfort in the aspect of cushioning because they do not just flatten out like your basic Hanes or Fruit of Loom socks that just are almost paper thin. Plus the comfort in keeping your feet dry from breathing away the moisture from your feet. As well as the comfort that you get from having dryer feet. I have also found them useful for wearing as slipper socks to keep your feet dry even while at home during the winter months. They really do wick away moisture and fight off odor like a heavyweight champ.
Durability
These socks will last you for years to come as long as you keep yours shoes properly tied and toenails reasonable length; meaning that you feet are not loose in the boots rubbing against the heel portion and your toenails are at normal length so they do not essentially cut through the sock itself. Plus it is important that you unlace your boots so you do not prematurely wear out the heel by dragging your foot out of the boot. I have also found these socks to be apparently on of the most durable socks in the Cabela's line yet. Another thing that is important is proper washing and drying to extend life of the socks.
Washing Directions
Use mild soap and chlorine free bleach so that you do not cause the X-Static silver nylon to lose its effectiveness of combating odor.
Drying Directions
I usually place them on cycle of tumble dry low or hang dry them since high heat is not needed since they are made of wool even though it may take a little longer. High heat in the long run can cause the the various fabrics in the socks to bind up some making the socks uncomfortable or loose up around the top of the sock.
Times to be used
They are perfect for hunting in cold weather or other cold weather activities or wear them like slipper socks.
