"The Real 'Vegas, Baby!"

Written: Dec 27 '99
Pros:Immaculate inside and out, consistently impeccable customer service
Cons:Spendy. Expect to pay at least $120/night, minimum bets at tables usually around $20.

Wanna do the real 'Vegas? Then do Caesar's Palace. It's as opulent and over-done as only Las Vegas can be, but don't expect some sleazy, cheezy, smokey casino filled with glassy-eyed grannies yankin' slot machines with wrist braces on or game tables flanked by frat-boys on spring break. Expect the finest shopping (Ralph Loren, Versace, Gucci along with mall-fav's BeBe, Guess, Victoria's Secret, etc) in the most beautiful mall you will EVER see, designed to replicate a Roman piazza with cobblestone floors, marble fountains, and a ceiling fresco that changes from billowing clouds to a starry dusk.
Caesar's is staple for celebrities and high-rollers. (I once played roulette for about 3 hours with a couple of guys who bet $10,000 a roll, tipping the dealer $100 bucks a spin. It was worth the ten bucks a roll I was droppin' just to see those wise-guy-esque pit bosses in sharkskin suits start sweatin' and adjusting their collars while barking at the cocktail waitresses "DRINKS HERE!". Don't get me wrong; they have lots of slots, too, with daily tournaments hosted by Caesar and Cleopatra themselves. (That's another thing: Caesar's has one of the most consistent and opulent themes in the casino world with the Roman Empire motif).
Expect the very best customer service from the staff at Caesar's Palace. They get so many high-rollers, they treat everyone like a big-wig. Once I didn't like the $80 room they gave me, and after meekly asking if they had anything else available, they transferred me to a three-room suite at the same rate!
Needless to say, I love Caesar's Palace. If you're looking for the true 'Vegas experience, you will too.
