| Suzy10's Full Review: Caesars Palace |
Having just recently returned from a trip to Las Vegas, I had to offer up an opinion on what was probably the most disappointing aspects of Vegas life: Caesar's Palace. I'd heard about this place forever, having seen it on television and hearing it spoken of as the epitome of Vegas casinos, the place where the rich and famous play.
Well, folks, that may have been true several years ago, but I have to say that I was most unimpressed with Caesar's Palace for a variety of reasons. Granted, the Forum Shops are great and the "talking" Greek statues are cool, but the casino, showspaces, and food at Caesar's were deplorable. The casino is a sprawling monster with no clear traffic walkways, forcing you to jostle in between slots and card players, and very confusing directional signs telling you how to get through the casino area -- just finding an exit almost requires a compass and map. Yes, I know that their goal is to keep you gambling, but this place is beyond ridiculous. The decor is in serious need of an update, and the whole casino holds the smell of old cigarettes.
While we had to walk forever to find somewhere to eat lunch at Caesar's (most of the restaurants appear to be open only for dinner), we finally found a "food court" where we were able to purchase two small, badly overcooked hamburgers, two fountain drinks, and one candy bar for $20.00. The service was slow, rude, and generally made for an unpleasant experience.
The clientele at Caesar's were the oldest crowd we saw at any of the hotels, and perhaps many of these people remember Caesar's when it was in its heyday and keep coming back for the nostalgic factor. I can't imagine any other reason why anyone would want to spend time here when there are much more beautiful properties just next door.
