| modernmarvel's Full Review: California Baby Diaper Rash Cream 2oz. |
I bought this expensive diaper cream on a whim at the local Whole Foods Market because my poor baby had just gone through a horrible stomach bug and her little bottom was still rashy.
OUR EXPERIENCE
First of all, this creme feels great. It is very soft and goes on very smooth. It felt really nice on my skin and baby seemed to like it. If it wasn't a diaper cream, I would have rubbed some on me.
This creme has a strong smell but it is rather nice, a little medical but also with a nice herbal scent. The scent fades after a couple of hours.
The creme sticks to baby's bottom very well. I use enough of it so that you can't see baby's skin through the coating of diaper creme. Although this creme is not the thickest creme I have used, I find that I can coat baby's skin with less of the product than I expected. The tube of diaper creme lasted longer than I thought it would because a little of this product accomplishes the same thing as almost double the amount of other products. This somewhat helped me justify the price since the product really did last a long time.
This creme did a great job at clearing up mild diaper rash. It also worked very well at keeping baby's bottom clear and rash-free, even overnight and under more difficult conditions, including a few very messy episodes.
PACKAGING
The packaging of this product is nice. The label is attractive and there is a convenient flip top lid on the tube. It would make a nice gift in a basket with some other baby items at a shower or for a new mom.
PRICE
I paid $7.95 for my 2.9 ounce tube on sale but the regular price in the supermarket was $9.95.
INGREDIENTS
According to the label, the ingredients are food grade and all natural. Also, the ingredients do not contain common allergens such as gluten, oat, soy, dairy or nut oils. I am a little suspicious of the last claim since I don't think any diaper cremes I have come across have nut oils or any of those other ingredients.
According to the manufacturer, the creme also contains a calming aromatherapy blend which includes French lavender, known for its soothing, antibacterial, and healing properties. It does have a nice smell but I didn't think it was particularly calming. Then again, I don't really buy into aromatherapy.
Active ingredient: 12% Zinc Oxide
Other Ingredients: Purified water,ultra-purified lanolin, aloe vera, vegetable glycerine, capylic capric tryglyceride, cetyl alchohol, herbal blend ( rose water, arnica, calendula, Vitamin E, xanthan gum, vitamin A, evening primrose, hi-olec safflower oil, proprietary calming essential oil blend.
FINAL RECOMMENDATION
This creme is quite expensive when compared to other brands however I really do notice that the ingredients are higher quality than other brands. I don't know if I would buy it again based purely on cost but I did really enjoy using it. It was also very effective on baby's diaper rash.
