I love the idea of all natural products for babies. So many labels have unpronouncable ingredients - how do we know what we are really putting on baby? Shampoo is one of my biggest concerns because, despite my best efforts, shampoo can get in baby's eyes and mouth.
WHAT YOU GET
This product can be used for shampoo and body wash. I usually use it just for shampoo but it runs all over baby as I rinse it out of her hair, so I suppose we use it for body wash too.
According to the label, this product is extremely mild, can be used on babies through adults and it is all natural.
OUR EXPERIENCE
I have been using this shampoo for about two months on my 7-9 month old baby. One reason I selected this product is that it promised to be gentle on baby's skin. My baby has some patches of stubborn eczema and I wanted to try some new products to help clear it up.
For some reason, I didn't expect this shampoo to make much lather but it makes as much lather as other shampoos I have used. There is no scent which is nice - no unnecessary ingredients for baby. I am pretty sure I have gotten this shampoo in or near baby's eyes but she has never complained.
After washing, baby's hair - and she has a lot of it - it is shiny and clean. In the winter, it was a bit flyaway, but our house gets very dry and that is partly to blame.
I used this product about five times a week on baby's hair. Her hair never seemed dry and her skin was never irritated. In fact, her eczema improved, particularly the patches on her neck. I don't know if that is because she is outgrowing it or because of some other product but I can't argue with success.
Another nice attribute is that the shampoo is pretty concentrated. A little goes a long way, particularly for little babies. After two months, I am still using my first bottle of the shampoo.
The shampoo comes in various containers. My container has a flip top lid so it is easy to manage while washing a slippery baby.
PRICE AND SIZE
My bottle has 8.5 ounces. I initially found this shampoo on sale for $7.99 at the local Whole Foods market. However, a lot of places carry it for around $9.95. According to the label, the product also comes in half gallon and gallon sizes.
INGREDIENTS
Purified Water, Aloe Vera, 100% Decyl Polyglucose (extracts of corn, coconut & palm oil)., Vitamin E, Vegetable Glycerin, Citrus Seed Extract, Minute Amt. (.15%, this is less than 1/4 of 1%), Of food grade preservative / anti-bacterial (methyl/propylparaben).
FINAL RECOMMENDATION
I really love this shampoo. It is all natural and has does a great job of keeping baby clean. Plus, her eczema has improved although I can't say for sure if it is due to this product.
