About a year ago, I started research to find out why my dog was scratching herself so much. She would dig and claw at her face and torso all day long, and more so after a meal.
Imagine my surprise when I found out the cheap store brand dog food was causing her problems. It's main ingredient was corn. I first tried switching to a super premium dog food, Innova Senior. I was really impressed with reviews, and the ingredient list. The itching improved, but did not go away.
I switched to California Natural Lamb and Rice. All I can say about this is WOW! In just a few weeks her rough coat was smooth and shiny, and the scratching had all but ceased.
I can not say enough good things about this dog food. My dog gobbles it up as soon as she gets it. Her stools are smaller. The one thing that made me the happiest was seeing my 12 year old dog actually prancing again.

Vitamins/Minerals
Beta Carotene
There are no common allergens like corn or wheat, only simple, pure ingredients. The Natura website also states that they use no byproducts or artificial preservatives. I like that.
The only thing I don't like is that it can be difficult to find. Usually small pet stores or feed stores carry it. Use the store finder feature on the manufacturer's website to help locate a retailer. I have to drive 20 miles to get this food, but it is absolutely worth it to me.
If your dog has allergies, do him a favor and try California Natural Lamb meal and Rice formula!!!
