I like that the first ingredient is a meat, although in meal form. Still wonderful that its a meat that "sits" well with sensitive dogs.
With there only being few ingredients, the I can be confident that there is at least 30% if not more meat content to this food. You must remember that the meat content is always listed before water is removed. Once the water is removed from the meat it is substantually less in quanitity.
There is not an over abundance of "useless" grains and veggies in this food.
I feed this to one of my dogs, his coat is marvellous, his energy level is much higher and has more endurance than he did with Pedigree Healthy Vitality.
His feet no longer get yeast infections ( possibly due to there being no corn in the food)
The cost is a bit pricy but in the end it all balances out with less visits to the vet for a food allergy based recurrance of yeast.
The food is not that appealing to him however, he was not too interested in it at first ( due the lack of rancid fats for flavoring, which other lower quality foods spray on the kibble to entice your dog to eat it, leading you to believe that they are loving the food.) I have begun adding a teaspoon of yogurt to his bowl every second day, its a flavor boost and helps with the occasional soft stool.
The transition to the food was a bit tough at first, his body was not used to not having so much "fillers". This caused some slight diarhea. However after several months of feeding only this food ( no treats) he has taken wonderfully to it. If you suspect a food sensitivity with your dog, I would reccommend it highly. but you have to remember to not feed the regular treats or he/she can still end up reacting.
It is only available at Petfood stores, ( which clearly is where to buy the better food for your pet)
There is also a Herring and Sweet Potato formula which I also highly recommend, due to the same reasons.
