Pros: Convenience if you need catering-- but note no discount if you pick it up yourself.
Cons: Small pizzas, white ends of iceberg lettuce in salad, generic white bread.
We had a small luncheon party of 10 people in downtown Chicago so we decided to try the California Pizza Kitchen's Small Trio Combo. I drove over to pick it up to try to save some money but ended up with no discount whatsoever. I was surprised to discover that the three pizzas were all small thin crust pizzas (cold too) that could barely feed two teenagers, let allone six adults and four teens. The adults ended up eatingno only the salad (which mainly consisted of the white ends of iceberg lettuce) and the pasta (which was OK). The other parts of the meal consisted of some dessert cookies and generic white bread. The cookies were the best part of the meal actually. However, overall we were not at all happy with the overpriced Small Trio Combo ($150, including tax). A fair price would have been $75 at most for what you got. We called California Pizza Kitchen to express our disappointment but they were uninterested. This was extremely surprising because we ordered a separate caering plan from them two years ago and ended up happily feeding 30 people for $300 with good warm food. After this experience, I do not plan on ordering from California Pizza Kitchen again.
