War games seem to never get tiresome! The makers always find a battle and turn it into a wild, intense and scary battle. That is what makes the fans come back for more. So when I heard about Call Of Duty 2 for the Xbox 360 being one of THE games to get for the 360, I had to find out myself if this game does deliver the hype that it has created. It turns out, it's every damn bit true about what people say about this game and it brings even more when we didn't expect it to. Truly, this is a game to get for the 360. Here's what I had to say...
COD 2 is a war game and it lives up to what war games should contain. The intense battles, brutal and fierce shoot-outs and the battle between machine and man. COD 2 may be another ordinary war game but actually, it's one of the freshest ones out there. First off, the health meter is gone. When you are hitting hit, the screen will flash red and when your health gets to an extreme low, it will tell you to take cover. Now, there is no medicine to heal you up so you need to take cover AND your health will return to 100%. Talk about being generous about not having to hunt for healing medicine. Also, when you are getting hit, the meter will tell you where the guns are coming from. Another generous aspect of the game is that it displays an icon of a grenade when a grenade is around you. So, you will need to run and when the icon disappears, it means you are at a safe distance. You can even grab the grenade and throw it back at the enemy. Literally, the screen is filled up; with this stuff above and the things including a compass that tells where you need to go to complete objectives and it'll also tell you where the enemies and your allies are. Also, it tells you how many smoke bombs and regular bombs you have and also it tells you which stance you are in: standing, crouch and prone. One last thing is the crosshairs where your gun is aiming at.
Also during the game, you can literally hold your breath. This works for the sniper rifle and when your hand(game's players hand) gets shakey, you can hold your breath by pressing and holding a button. It makes your hand from shaking for a few seconds to get that precious head hit. You'll also have a chance to use a melee attack in the game. When an enemy is right up on you, you can use any weapon to hit then without wasting your bullets. You can also swap weapons with others or picking them up from fallen soldiers. During this game, you'll even be able to drive vehicles and use their weapons. The game's weapon selection is quite good. You can have a pistol, sniper rifle, machinegun and much more. You really don't know what you are using but there are a lot of guns in this game and not to mention chaos.
Call Of Duty 2 must be the most intense war game I've ever played. You definitely feel like you are on the battlefield and you ARE trying to survive. It is that intense! I believe this sequel to Call Of Duty has stepped the intense button up a notch. You'll endure several gun fights, several tank fights, guarding or protecting bases, blowing up tanks and buildings and believe it or not but the list keeps going. You will also see lots of WOW moments in this game. I won't spoil the wow moments but all I can say is that you've never seen such a thing before. Imagine a tank riding on top of you in a ditch! The developers have taken real wars and put them into this which will make the game even more real and intense. I'm really serious about this. For those gamers who doesn't like lots of intense and breath-taking battles, then you just might can't handle the intensity. Call Of Duty 2 is a 27 level game. The game also have 3 campaigns to complete. Each campaign/level is very different and each has a different objective to complete. That is the single player mode; if you want to go online and do the muliplayer mode including deathmatch, team deathmatch, CTF, headquarters and search and destroy. It's definitely a game that will be in your 360 for a good while.
The controls are easy to perform and the layout for them is simple and immensive. You'll definitely get the hang of playing this after only 10-15 minutes of gaming. I was really surprised since there is a lot of actions to do in this game. Every button on the 360 controller has an action to do. Some even have two actions to do. Usually the top clicks are to attack, fire, throw while the buttons are to jump, change weapon, move and aim. You will be surprised on how much the controls are easily laid out and how very easy to remember and perform them. Not once will you die in this game from pressing the wrong button.
Now since this is a game for the Xbox 360, the hype is high for the graphics and sound. Happily, the hype is all true. The graphics for one are simply the best. It's quite possible they are the best looking and most real looking you'll see yet. The effects in the game like tanks blowing up, buildings crashing, bombs going off and plain just seeing your gun fire are simply beautiful. In one level, you begin crawling through a tube that goes around the whole level and below you are enemies firing and you'll see bullets tearing through the metal. The light effects are great and this will even show you that. The character models look excellent. They all have good poise and excellent movement. When you see snow on the character's uniforms from being out in the weather, the graphics totally make the snow looks real on their uniforms. Everything is beautiful in this chaotic game and the sound even makes it better with its loud and crisp guns firing, soldiers yelling out where the enemies are or even the echoes of chaos in buildings, this is a game that delivers the sound in a whole new way with it being the most chaotic war sounds yet! Expect voice actors giving out an extraordinary performance! The music score is even great. From music that sounds a lot like Lord Of The Rings musical score and featuring patriotic and compelling piano and violins music that will let you feel the intensity and sometimes emotional state that this game tries to set. It succeeds with flying colors!
