Pros: Consistent feel from iron to iron.
Cons: Not as durable due to thin cover.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend the HX Tour to the advanced player seeking more consistent feel from driver to putter.

| lmh3's Full Review: Callaway Golf HX Tour |
Being an assistant PGA Pro, I am constantly trying the newest ball on the market in an effort to provide my students with the best information possible. When my Callaway rep gave me a dozen HX Tour and HX Tour 56 balls, I was not very excited to try them. Having hit the HX Red and HX Blue balls before, I was expecting another middle of the pack ball from a company that spends most of their money on clubs. I failed to think that when Callaway purchased Top Flite and Ben Hogan balls, they would implement some of the aspects from each into their line of balls.
The HX Tour is a medium to low spin ball, especially off of the driver. Short iron control is quite impressive, with just enough spin to bite and hold, but not too much to have the ball backing off the front of the green. The Hexagonal dimple pattern means there are no spots on the cover that aren't covered, this gives more consistent spin rates and will keep the ball from ballooning in the air and falling straight down. The HX Tour 56 is a softer, higher spin version of the HX Tour (when it is added to the site, I will write on that).
You do get a significant distance gain with the HX Tour compared to a ProV1, which is nice with courses getting longer and longer. I personally hit some of the other new balls just as far as the HX Tour (Bridgestone B330 and B330S, One Platinum, and Black Max). I was pleased with the consistency of the HX Tour, it has a very predictable ball flight, with the even hexagonal dimples, it doesn't matter how it is lined up when hit, the ball will launch and fly the same way each shot. I was able to put a little more spin on the HX Tour than I could with the Black Max and One Black, it is about on par with the ProV1 as far as spin on the greens.
Durability is a question mark with the HX Tour, it doesn't stand up to wedge shots or sand as well as the One Black or Black Max, but it is far more durable than the HX Tour 56 and Bridgestone B330S.
I would recommend the HX Tour to the low to mid handicap player that is looking for a boost in distance while maintaining shot to shot feel with every iron in the bag. For those looking to increase short iron spin and maybe even back the ball up on the green, I would go with the HX Tour 56 if it's available in your area yet.
