| radiothomas's Full Review: Calphalon Cake Pans Professional Nonstick Bakeware... |
Previously, I've purchased cheapo cake pans, even if I do a lot of baking and turn out a number of cakes and brownies and the like each month. But about five years ago, I decided to spring for one of these pans at a considerably higher price, and I don't regret it at all. Especially since I was also able to test Calphalon's noted warranty in the last six months.
I'm very happy with the quality of the baked goods that this pan turns out... even heat distribution, rarely any problems with burning, ease to clean and care for, and it's very durable. However, rather suddenly I began to notice a flaking on the surface of the non-stick coating, in a very selective area. That flaking spread slightly, and was clearly a manufacturing defect.
In November, I sent the baking pan back to Calphalon freight pre-paid, requesting a replacement, and stating clearly in a note that this was clearly not due to abuse or using the wrong instrument to clean the pan. And while they weren't the fastest in getting my pan back to me (it took four weeks) - and the pan wasn't very well protected in the box they used, I was pleased that they replaced it with a brand-new pan without any questions.
