I know many people who claim to love to cook, but the truth is, they really only love cooking when it is easy and the clean-up is fast. This product is not for them. Now, if you are a die-hard chef wannabe, you will probably really like these pots and pans. I am somewhere in the middle, and so I have the basic cookware set and a few miscellaneous pieces of cookware wearing other brand labels.

Here are my suggestions:
If you want to make a lot of omelettes and you want them to just slide out of the pan, buy a non-stick omelette pan.
If you want your water to do perfect rolls when it boils, these pans will do that.
If you want to heat up a can of soup and throw your pot into the dishwasher with your bowl, buy a different set of pans, because these cannot go into the dishwasher at all without ruining the finish and voiding the warranty.
If, however, you really like to be able to brown your own beef for your stew and scrape up the yummy brown stuff off the bottom before adding your stock, buy these pans!
You can't use metal utensils with non-stick cookware, but you can with these pans. You cannot put pans with plastic handles into the oven or under the broiler, but you can with these pans. They are not non-stick in the way that Teflon coated pots and pans are, but food does come right out when you wash them (by hand!).
You cannot put them into the dishwasher. They will develop stains on them as you use them, but these are easily removed with the appropriate cleaner. I myself just use them stained, as it does not affect how they cook. The handles are heat-proof (so you can put them into the oven or under the broiler), so you will need to get used to using hot pads or your will burn your fingers. The pans are also heavy, so if you already feel uncomfortable lifting a huge pot of boiling hot water, get something lighter.
These pans are not for the cook who wants to spend a minimum amount of time in the kitchen. There are better sets for those cooks available from Calphalon and other manufacturers. If you are into more gourmet cooking, these pans might be just the thing for you. I really do like mine when I have the time to cook a really fabulous meal.
I do NOT recommend buying these pans as a gift unless you know for sure that the recipient really wants them.
