Pros: Digital DIN and optical inputs, remote, independent sub, center and surround levels
Cons: confusing interface, cheap cables, poor documentation
The Bottom Line: For the price, you get quite a bit. Just be prepared to stare blankly at the decoder box for a while before achieving UI enlightenment.

| cortexbomb's Full Review: Creative Technology DeskTop Theater DTT3500 5 Spea... |
I bought the DTT3500 because it works very well with my SBLive! Platinum 5.1, but I am disappointed in general with the system. The interface is unnecessarily complicated - and when I say complicated, I mean many simple features and modes poorly described and hard to isolate each one. I have yet to see the Dolby Digital LED turn on, even when playing Dolby-enabled DVDs.
The sound is decent, other than some occasional crackling in the surround channels. I suspect the thin 24-gauge cables are to blame. The overall wattage is very low for a 5.1 system: 7 watts in the satellites and 25 in the subwoofer.
For the price, I would also look at the Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 system also (www.klipsch.com), which lacks a center channel spkr and dig. decoder. If you have the $$, pair it up the Klipsch with the Hercules GameTheatreXP (www.hercules.com), which comes with it's own PCI audio card and rackmount decoder.

About Me: I am a terminal impulse buyer, and I pay dearly. However, I am quite critical.
