Mattachine's Full Review: Campbell's Creative Cooking With Soup
There are two things about me and cooking: One, I am not a picky eater, and two, I am not a great cook. In fact I avoid it most of the time if it involves more than boiling or microwaving. However the recent global economic downturn has made me consider preparing more of my own meals on the cheap.
The Campbell's Creative Cooking With Soup cookbook is a cute little book. It's pages are hard cardboard-like stock, like it's cover, so you can actually throw it around in the kitchen as you follow the recipes without tearing pages out or worrying about spilling anything on it.
The recipes are quite simple, and of course all involve some variety of Campbell's soup. I was raised on Campbell's and still have difficulty as an adult dealing with the reality and realization that Campbell's canned soups are not gourmet fixin's. Still, these recipes turn out well for the not-so-experienced cook. (There is enough salt in most Campbell's cans to make anything taste at least somewhat edible.) The ingredients outside of the soup are simple, easy to find or substitute, and everything is laid out perfectly including servings that will be produced and how to reduce/increase serving amounts.
This definatly isn't for the master chef in your life, but perfect for that young, single person who has to get started practicing somewhere!
