Pros: delightful scent; fantastic exfoliation; feels lovely on the skin; rinses easily
Cons: not cheap, but typical cost for mid range beauty brands
The Bottom Line: This is my current favorite scrub ever! Love the scent, texture and how soft & smooth it makes my skin. Love that very little product is needed per use.

I’d heard about Dylan’s Candy Bar in New York City years ago. Started by Dylan Lauren (Ralph Lauren’s daughter) it had quickly become a hot spot for celebrities, tourists and locals to buy candy, goodies and other fun items.
Dylan has since opened several other stores and even come out with her own body care line inspired by her love of sweets. Since I tend to gravitate toward sweet scents I was highly curious to try out some of her products. While browsing Sephora.com I choose to purchase Dylan’s Candy Bar Ice Cream Sugar Scrub in the Birthday Cake Batter scent.

Dylan’s Candy Bar Ice Cream Sugar Scrub Birthday Cake Batter scent is packaged in a plastic container that looks exactly like that of a pint of ice cream. It has an easy to use screw top lid and holds 12 oz. of product. The cost is $20. This product is also currently available in three other scents: Coconut Bon Bon, Strawberry Licorice and Chocolate Cupcake.

This product does not contain parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate or propylene glycol.
My Experience
Cake batter happens to probably be my all time favorite smell ever. We’re talking, yellow cake batter prior to it being baked. I just love the way it smells. Sugar, butter and vanilla goodness. Delicious. Of course that’s why I choose the scent I did and I really hoped I wasn’t going to be disappointed. Thankfully I wasn’t! This product smells exactly like that. Exactly!
Our of all of Dylan’s Candy Bar beauty product I choose to try a scrub because I’m always in need of a good body scrub. My skin tends to be rather dry and needs to be exfoliated and then hydrated regularly or I’m left with less than pleasing flakes and scales. I tend to use a scrub the most just prior to shaving my legs to help me get a closer shave that lasts as long as possible.
The texture of Dylan’s Candy Bar Ice Cream Sugar Scrub in the Birthday Cake Batter scent is unlike any scrub I’ve tried before. It’s really thick and creamy without feeling like cold cream. In fact it feels like a heavy milkshake… at least I think that’s what a heavy milkshake would feel like if I rubbed it on my skin. The exfoliating particles are neither huge nor micro. I’d say they’re just the right size and not too rough feeling on the skin.
I’ve found that a little bit of Dylan’s Candy Bar Ice Cream Sugar Scrub in the Birthday Cake Batter scent goes a long way. A quarter sized amount will easily work on one of my legs. The product almost seem to foam up a bit the more it’s rubbed around the skin and it rinses off beautifully. I love how my skin is left feeling – so soft and smooth. It’s fabulous!
Now the scent does not stay with me, but I really haven’t found a scrub outside of Philosophy’s Perfumed Amazing Grace Hot Salt Scrub that does. So that’s ok with me. Plus as much I enjoy the scent of cake batter I’m not sure I’d want to walk around smelling like that all day long.
And so…
My use of Dylan’s Candy Bar Ice Cream Sugar Scrub in the Birthday Cake Batter scent has left me wanting to try more products from Dylan’s Candy Bar. $20 isn’t cheap for a body scrub but it’s pretty typical if you tend to shop at places like The Body Shop or use other mid range brands. I’ve been very pleased with how long lasting my tub has been - I’ve been using this scrub exclusively for 3 months and I haven’t even used 1/3 of it.
I would recommend you give Dylan’s Candy Bar Ice Cream Sugar Scrub in the Birthday Cake Batter scent a try if you’re looking for a good body scrub that’s both good at exfoliation as well as gentle and a bit hydrating. If you’re not into cake batter scents, try one of their other scents and let me know what you think!
