Pros: Contains real chicken, taste the dogs love.
Cons: Contains BHA as a preservative.
Our dachshunds are more than a little spoiled. And why not spoil them? We love them as if they were one of the kids. Each day they get a treat when I come home from work. They know after their greeting and when everyone has had a bit of loving, that it is time for a tasty treat. One of the regulars in my rotation of doggie treats is Canine Carry Outs Grilled Chick 'n Strips. This is one treat that looks amazingly like the real thing and they really love this treat too!
Canine Carry Outs Grilled Chick 'n Strips
Canine Carry Outs Grilled Chick 'n Strips come is a small package with a ziploc top. There are regular size bags that weigh 12 oz. that can be purchased in pet stores and mass retailers like Walmart, Target and KMart for $1.69 or you can find a smaller 7 oz. bag at some of the dollar stores for $1.00. Either way, this is a pretty good value on treats, especially when your dogs love them.
Canine Carry Outs Grilled Chick 'n Strips are made by Del Monte Pet Products. The treats contain real chicken and come in a thin strip about 3.5 inches long. They are the color of white grilled chicken and look very realistic. The treats are chewy and according to my dogs, very satisfying.
The Doxies Vote
Our dachshunds love these treats. The size is very generous for a treat compared to other products on the market. You can easily tear these into half or even thirds to make them last longer.
I have also used these treats for older puppies. They seem to be very easy on the tummy and easy enough for them to chew without any problems.
I like the fact that these treats contain real meat in the form of chicken and not a processed meat or by-product. It makes me feel better about giving treats daily. However, this one does contain BHA, and that is why I usually tear the treats into thirds when serving them.
These treats don't take long for the doxies to eat. They are chewy and last a bit longer than a dog biscuit but within 5 minutes the treats are gone. I do find them trying to steal a treat every now and then but they see that the other dog isn't going to give it up easily and another will notice a treat lying all alone and try to make a move on it. So by the time they look around, their treat is at risk of being stolen, and the idea of stealing a treat from someone else is over with on the spot!
Crude Protein: 12.5% Min.
Crude Fat: 9% Min.

Wheat flour, water, chicken, soybean meal, propylene glycol, pregelatinized wheat flour, animal fat (BHA used as a preservative), egg product, natural smoke flavor, salt, titanium dioxide, phosphoric acid, potassium sorbate (used as a preservative), BHA (used as a preservative).
While the doxies really enjoy this treat I have mixed feelings about serving it very often with the BHA used as a preservative so freely in this product. It does contain a true protein source and that is a plus. I think this is a good treat to feed in limited quantities and on occasion but not daily or in large amounts. I give Canine Carry Outs Grilled Chick 'n Strips 4 Stars (minus 1 for the BHA).
