I wanted a portable printer to use with my laptop and the BJC-85 fits the bill just fine. It is a great little printer! Not the speediest, but the print quality is very good. It also seems to be very durable, important since I cart this around in my laptop bag.

There are two printheads available for this printer. One is designed to hold a all black ink cart. The size of this cart is large and can be used for all black printing. The other printhead available holds two ink carts. One is black, the other tri color so that you can color print. The downside of using this arrangement is that the black cart, because it shares the space with the color cart, is very small and can run out of ink quickly if you do a lot of printing. In my case I only do occasional printing with my laptop. But I like the small footprint of the BJC-85 so well I purchased a second one for my husbands home computer as it takes up so little room on his desk. He prints frequently, mostly in black, and I just refill the cart when needed. I have been successful in refilling the black, but not so successful refilling the color.

I have also purchased the scanning module for my BJC-85 and that works very well for sheet fed scans. And just today I received the optional battery pack and adaptor so that I can truly use my laptop and printer free from the electrical outlet.

I love Canon printers! I also have the MP700 Multi functional printer for my desktop computer.
