Pros: 3x Optical zoom for under $200, good picture quality
Cons: No AC adapter, cannot make movies, pictures taken indoors are poorer quality than outdoor ones
The Bottom Line: The camera that comes out of the box will need good rechargeable batteries and a new memory card to make it truly usable, but it's worth it.

| klevitsky's Full Review: Canon PowerShot A10 Digital Camera |
I looked around for about a week once I decided to get a digital camera. For under $200 dollars, it seemed I was limited to around one mega pixel. The A10 caught my eye because it has an Optical Zoom. Many cameras have Digital Zoom which simply enlarges part of the picture at the cost of resolution, if you have Photoshop or similar software you can digitaly zoom in. The first time out of the box the camera was easy to use, but only took about 10 pictures with the LCD on. I did some research and found this to be a common problem, but the solution was very easy. I bought 4 Ni-metal hydride batteries for $20 and a charger for another $20 (I got the Duracell brand). These batteries are rated at 1800mAh (milli-Ampere hours) and last for about 100 pictures with the LCD on. Then I had to replace the included 8MB CompactFlash memory card (which holds about 10 high quality pictures) with a 32MB one, which now holds 42 highest quality pictures. I have had 4x6 prints made from the digital images I took and they look great when taken outdoors, as good as 35mm prints. Indoor pictures are sometime pixelated when printed as 4x6. The camera is also rather heavy, at 380 grams with 4 AA batteries and the memory card. Overall I am happy with the camera and would recommend it, I bought mine at RitzCamera.com when they had it for $185.
