This camera was given to me as a gift, and I picked it up and started using it right away. No need to read the user manual, very user friendly. I take it with me when I travel, The memory stick it comes with is good for when you are staying home, and can delete pictures or download the pictures right away, but if you are traveling I suggest a little bit more memory to go with the 8 megs it comes with.
I love having the LCD screen because I can preview my photo's and take another and delete the bad ones. I have entered my photos into contests and have gotten a few awards, and its one of the cheapest digital cameras that cannon sells!
You can't see the LCD screen in bright light, but I'm sure thats the case with most other LCD screens of this size.
