I actually got this scanner for Christmas this year. I wanted this model because of several things. Size, Scan Resolution, USB and least importantly it just plain looks cool.
It is only about 1" tall, 14" Deep and 10" Wide. You only have to hook the 1 USB cable to it for power and data which is very nice. We all have enough cables the way it is.
Installation was a snap. Hook the USB cable up when your computer is booted up and it autodetects the scanner right off the bat. Install the included software which takes over your windows twain scanner program, and also Adobe Photoshop 5 Limited Edition.
Scanning itself is quick and easy. It takes about 5 seconds to run a preview scan and from there it depends on what DPI you want to scan at. At 1200 which is HUGE even for a 4x6 picture your filesize is over 30MB. It only takes about 1 minute for a file that large. Once you jump down in DPI you can scan a picture in less that 5 seconds. Adobe is the perfect editor for it also.
I haven't scanned too many text documents to tell whether the OCR software is very good or not. From what I've tested though I haven't had any problems at all.
If you are looking for a home, home/office scanner this is the way to go. On the other had if you are looking for an office/high end scanner I would go SCSI.
