| madmouse's Full Review: Canon CanoScan N670U Flatbed Scanner |
I've used this scanner for about 9 months now and for the price I paid it has preformed wonderfully. Installed on my Windows XP Profeesional system AMD Athlon 2000+ 512MB of PC2100 RAM with no installation problems.USB Connection only. The drivers are very easy to tweak to get the results you need for most given applications. Intergrates well with OFFICE XP. Does take awhile to scan some documents. I use it alot to scan documents and letters for faxing purposes since I do not have a standalone fax.
Wish it could just scan the letter without waiting for it to perform it's final scan. When you scan a 4X6 photo it give you an option to crop the photo before it performs its final scan. The one touch buttons allow for you set up customized "Scan-To" options. You can change the default settings to whatever program you need. Comes with Arcsoft PhotoSuite 2000 for image editing. If you don't have any image editing software then this will provide you with the basic program to edit your scans. There are other programs out there that does a better job. Also ships with ScansSoft Ominipage Pro for your OCR needs. I've only used it a few times but it does make editing your scanned documents alot easier than some other OCR software packages.
It also comes with a neat little wall mount so you can mount it on the side of your desk or wall to really save space.
If your buying this scanner to do a lot of scanning I suggest going with a scanner that has a document feeder as that will make your job that much easier. For the occasional photo and documents you can't really go wrong for the price. I've used AGFA, Xerox scanners before and love the quality I get from the Canon over all others.
