Pros: Does everything I need it to for under $80.
Cons: Software for Windows XP is not great.
The Bottom Line: Wouldn't think twice if running Windows ME or earlier. Would check around with Windows XP.

| heyyoeddie's Full Review: Canon CanoScan N670U Flatbed Scanner |
When I got a new computer last fall, it came pre-installed with Windows ME and Dell would eventually ship me a Windows XP upgrade. My old scanner would not run with any version of Windows past 98SE so it became time for me to buy a new one. I went to my local Best Buy and found that the CanoScan N670U was the only scanner they had that met my three criteria. First, it had to support Windows ME. Secondly, it had to cost under $100. Third, it had to be USB-based instead of parallel port-based. I had been extremely happy with my scanner up to the point when I finally installed the Windows XP upgrade. Canon's site provides updated drivers & software for the scanner to operate under XP. Unfortunately, it somewhat hinders the scanner by basically disabling the one-button touch access panel on the front and by forcing me to use a different scanning software than the one I had gotten used to. Not terrible, but just not as good as my scanner had once been. I am still happy with my purchase, and feel that eventually I will buy a new CanoScan that comes with updated XP software.
