Sonicstef's Full Review: Canon Elph LT APS Film Camera
I purchased the Canon Elph LT model on Ebay last month. I wasn't completely sold on the APS film system but was very interested in having a small camera. Here's the lowdown on this camera: Size
The elph line of products key selling point is its size. As most people know already it is small - very small. The advantages are pretty obvious - easy to carry around all the time! This is a huge advantage for anyone who has been caught camera-less at a great photo opportunity because she didn't want to lug around the camera.
But guess what? There are some disadvantages as well! When taking pictures, its very easy to accidently cover the red eye reduction, light meter, flash or even the lens! You must hold the edges! Another item that may be a problem for men or anyone with large hands, the buttons are also small, making them more difficult to push. One last thing, its easy to lose. Just like a pack of cigarettes (equal is size) its just too easy to leave behind - so be careful. Film
The Elph LT only uses APS film - its smaller, easier to load and has 3 different photo options (standard, wide angle, panoramic). But be wary - APS film is very expensive to buy and develop. Camera Features
This camera seems to include all the basics - date & time stamp, self-timer and flash options. An added feature is an allowance to include one of 5 phrases on your photos (Happy Birthday, Seasons Greetings, etc..). I have not used this feature but it may come in handy one day. This Elph model does not have zoom. Cost
Although I purchased it at a discount on ebay, the retail price is less than $100. Very reasonably priced for this reliable camera from a reliable camera manufactuer (see my other Canon review). Photo Quality
I've heard stories of APS film being sub par to 35mm but so far I have not be able to spot a noticeable difference. Overall
The disadvantages do exist but, for now at least, I'm willing to sacrifice for the convienence. But I'm not trashing my 35mm faithful out just yet.
