cjacobs's Full Review: Canon Elph LT APS Film Camera
The Canon ELPH LT, at 4.1 ounces, is the world's lightest APS camera that has autofocus capabilities.
The ELPH LT has a 23mm f/4.8 focal length lens, giving sharp pictures in virtually any shooting condition. The active autofocus system is fast and accurate, with an focusing from as close as 2 ft. to infinity.
The built-in flash offers Slow Synchro and Red-eye Reduction modes for improved picture quality. APS provides easy drop-in film loading, auto film advance and rewind. There are three shooting formats including Classic (C), Wide Angle (H) and Panoramic (P). There is a built-in date, time and title function with the ability to put information on the front, back or both sides of the prints.
The ELPH LT is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand but it feels very solid and is robustly constructed. Some controls are very small and could be a problem for those with large hands. However, most of the small controls are infrequently used. The major controls are easy to use.
I thought that no zoom would be a negative factor but I feel that the three print formats available compensates well for that lack. I compared other brands that were similar but I felt they were not built as well.
Nikon and Minolta APS models had sliding covers that did not open and close firmly and appeared to be easily jammed or broken.
The ELPH LT has an on/off button that opens/closes an automatic lens cover that protects the lens. The ELPH LT is very well-made and performs like a SLR camera without the SLR's weight and bulk. It was a great buy!
