I love this camera. I bought it for my boyfriend a year ago because we were going on vacation to Yosemite national park. I thought that the small size of the camera would be perfect since we would be hiking and doing of a lot of walking. And was I ever right! Not only was the camera convenient, but it took the most amazing, clear pictures. We took beautiful panoramic pictures. And when we couldn't find anyone to take our picture together, we were able to set the camera on a rock and set the timer, because of its size.
We have never had any trouble with it so far, although its only been a year. On the down side, because it is so small, it can be easily lost, but so can a number of things. The camera does come with a carrying case that loops onto your belt for hand-free carrying. You cannot do one-hour developing with the film either, but what's a little wait when your pictures come out so perfect.
The camera also has an amazing zoom. We were able to take close up pictures of animals we spotted a distance away. My mother has a larger camera with a better ability to zoom, but the Canon Elph takes pictures that are just as quality as hers. I highly recomend this camera.
