Cons:Print Ink expensive Viewing screen too small Paper Tray not deep enough
The Bottom Line: Buy this printer if you like printing your digital photos. Excellent quality. It prints quickly and quietly with little effort.
This printer was very easy to set up and the instruction manual that came with the product was written in an easy to understand format. I print a lot of photographs. The quality finish is second to none. I am able to print directly from the printer rather than having to go through the computer which makes things so much easier. The printer has a small screen which allows you to view pictures prior to printing them. You can connect your camera to the printer via usb or just insert the memory card in one of the slots located on the front of the printer. The printer supports the following memory cards: Memory Stick DuoMemory Stick PRO DuoMemory Stick Micro (you will need an adaptor)Memory Stick PROSD CardMemory Stick SDHC CardMultimedia Card PlusCompact Flash Card MicroDrive The following Memory Cards are also compatible but you will need to get an adaptor in order to plug it in to the slot at the front of the printer miniSD CardminiSDHC CardmicroSD CardmicrosSDHC CardRS-MMCxD Picture CardxD Picture Card Type M and Type H The Printer takes 5 Printer ink Tanks. I have found that I have been able to print between 30 to 40 photographs using 4X6 photo paper The printer is PictBridge Compatible. It also has Bluetooth compatibility and a USB flash Drive. I like the fact that when printing the noise levels are quite low. Essential when I use my computer at night and the other half is sound asleep!! What is great about this printer is that it can also act as a photocopier and scanner. So if you work a lot at home this piece of equipment is just so invaluable and a space saver. The software is Windows and Macintosh compatible. I use a Mac and it works effortlessly. For Windows you will need about 650 Mb of hard disk space to instal it. For Macintosh around 750 MB. Printing Resolution is 9600 x 2400 so the quality is akin to taking your photos to a shop to be processed. The printer has a paper cartridge tray at the front. This can only take ordinary letter paper and not photo paper. Photo paper is loaded from the rear of the printer. I have to admit, I dont like this very much and would prefer it to be the other way around. Leaving Photo paper exposed like that is not too good. It would be better for the photo paper to be protected in the paper tray. Another drawback is that the paper tray cartridge only takes about around 70 or so sheets of paper. The printer itself is quite intuitive to use. It can be operated from the control panel on the top of the printer where the screen is using s scroll wheel and a few push buttons or directly from the computer. You can print onto blank DVDs or CD ROMs. The printer inks are expensive I found but they last for some time. At the moment you are stuck with having to buy Canon ink but I am sure that as the printer becomes more popular cheaper ink will become available. So why did I buy this product? Well I love Canon Printers. It looks good, the quality as always is excellent and the print quality is better than other brands out there. A few things about the printer are irritating as I have mentioned. The fact that the paper tray does not hold too much paper for one. Having to load photo paper from the rear is another. The ink is too expensive. The viewing screen is a little too small. Overall, I would recommend this printer for those of us that love digital photography and enjoy printing our photos. The print quality is just so good.
