Having just purchased a new Canon Powershot Elph SD 1100 IS, I needed a case to protect it. I had used Canons PSC-90 leather case with my Canon Powershot Elph SD 600, which was a high quality case that provided excellent protection for my camera for the last two years. Unfortunately the new camera is a tad bigger and coincidently, its just enough of a difference to warrant the purchase of a new case. I wonder if that was done intentionally
The Case
I purchased Canon PSC-1000 Deluxe Leather Case on the night I bought the camera. The case fits the camera exactly, which was important for me with such a compact camera. I wouldnt want a bulky case to defeat the purpose of buying a camera that could fit in my purse.
The camera is made of thin leather, which is very stiff in the area around the camera. Its much thinner than my previous case. The inner portion of the case, specifically where it surrounds the camera itself, is made of smooth, hard black leather. A flap flips over and fastens with a magnet to close the case. The exterior of the case when closed is made of stiff, textured, colored leather. My case is burgundy, which I felt best complimented my bohemian brown camera. The case is also available in grey, pink, and blue. The front of the case has a metal adornment with the Canon logo etched in. The back of the case features a belt clip. I never use the belt clip and have found it more useful to fasten an extra battery on my past case.
The top of the case has a hole in it for slipping the wrist strap through. This case does not come with a matching wrist strap and I thought it looked silly with the Nylon one. Instead, I used an extra black leather one I had leftover from my previous case. This is how I usually hold the camera, allowing me to keep it on my wrist for easy access, but safe.
Compatibility
The Canon PSC-1000 Deluxe Leather Case is compatible with the following Canon Powershot Elph Models:
SD 1000
SD 1100 IS
SD 770 IS
Protection
This case feels like it will protect the camera from cosmetic damage, and will do a decent job of protecting the camera from other damage. Im not sure how much help the case will be if the camera is dropped hard, but I highly recommend against it. The case will do a good job of protecting your LCD screen.
Price and Availability
The regular retail price for the PSC-1000 is $18.99 on Canons website. I was able to get it for $14.99 on Adorama.com. It seems to be available on most websites that sell electronics accessories.
I highly recommend that anyone with a compatible model pick this case up!
