A great technical review. Awesome dissection of the camera. However I would be happier with some more actual user experience instead of just knowing the specified features only. A professional would anyway not be interested in the 570IS. And as a lay user "who any way wont understand" the finer hi tech aspects, I am only interested in knowing how good the shots are in the outdoors, cloudyweather, indoors, portraits, groups, Landscapes, Nightscapes, Action & macro is all I understand. ISO 100-3200 is greek to me.

..a while back, Howard, and have found it to be just as advertised. I don't doubt for a moment that the A570 is just as ytou describe it, too.

4GB max movie length not 1GB (Reply to this comment)

Excellent review as always. If I'm not mistaken the A570 allows you to record up to 4GB of video unlike the lower end models, which only allow 1 GB as specified in your review. I can't verify it yet though as I won't receive my A570 until next week.

Great job on this review, as usual. My workplace recently bought this exact model, on my recommendation. We have used it for some exacting tasks, such as taking very close macro images of small parts of our products, and taking pictures of a recent layout redesign, then blowing up those pictures to 11x17 size. So far the A570IS has done very well. Our old camera, an aging Olympus 3 megapixel, wouldn't have had a chance. I also like the relatively small size and streamlined shape of the A570IS.

very happy with my A540 but wouldn't mind an upgrade to one with more megapixals....Howard, how do you shut off the flash, I've followed what I thought were the directions in my manual but it still went on when I took my next picture...
Thanks for another fantastic review, as always it made me want to go out and buy another camera..LOL
